Kuala Lumpur, 20 October, 2015 –Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD) today announced the relocation of the Northern Corridor Bus services from Pudu Sentral to Terminal Bandar Tasik Selatan (TBS) effective 1 November, 2015.  The affected destination involves trips to Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis.

The decision to move from Pudu to TBS involved discussions with relevant stakeholders, including Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Urban Development Authority (UDA) and the affected Bus Operators. In addition to providing better safety and comfort for commuters as well as effective operations for buses, the relocation to TBS is also aimed at eradicating the rampant ticket touting activities seen in Pudu Sentral today.

Under this move, 545 of the 635 northbound express buses operating from Pudu Sentral will be diverted away from the city center. This will help reduce the traffic congestion faced by commuters in the Pudu Sentral vicinity and in the long term decongest the central business district in the city.

The integrated, TBS facility, has sufficient capacity to cater to the Northern bound buses to operate in an efficient and orderly manner. The terminal which boasts modern amenities also provides better connectivity to the city center via various modes of transportation which includes the LRT, KTM Commuter, KLIA Transit and taxi services, bringing together all the different modes under one roof. Equipped with electronic boards which lists all arrivals and departures, as well as a centralised ticketing system, TBS supports the zero tolerance policy towards ticket touting.

Meanwhile, Pudu Sentral will continue to serve as a short haul bus services and stage bus terminal which includes trips to Tanjung Malim, KLIA 1, KLIA 2 and Seremban. In addition, it will also play a more significant role as a key Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) center providing a range of government and private sector services for the rakyat.
